With its mobile wheelset lathe ‘Mobiturn 2’, Hegenscheidt offers the world’s first and only system for maintaining wheel sets for rail vehicles. The newly developed ‘Mobiturn 3’ is set to further expand the company’s international market leadership. The desired contribution of the design: a modern appearance that increases recognisability, strengthens the Hegenscheidt brand and becomes a model for future products. Also in focus: improved ergonomics, usability, ease of maintenance and greater safety in the workplace.

The design developed by zweigrad gives the Mobiturn 3 a modern, almost futuristic look. The clearly recognisable structure of the machine in the brand colours white and blue makes the layout clear and understandable, which improves usability and orientation.

The light-coloured central section with doors, flaps and access to the interior represents improved maintenance. The workplace itself is bright with visible danger areas and high-contrast railings, which increases work safety.

The areas of the Mobiturn 3 which are exposed to lubricants, grease and dirt the most; like the cover and the contact surface with the train are dark anthracite.

The horizontal structure makes the machine appear flat and elongated as a whole. This emphasises the elegant gliding of the Mobiturn 3 under the train. Overall, zweigrad’s design solution strengthens the brand image and is also tailored to small-batch production.
