The mapl-e app from Vossloh Rail Services GmbH
Data complexity with a clear edge
The task
Vossloh Rail Services offers the world’s only technology for working on tracks amidst ongoing traffic using innovative, streamlined hardware and software solutions. As the company’s design partner for the machines and interfaces, our task was to provide the design for an app that would be used as a basis for the individual maintenance plans of Rail Services customers.
The solution
So how can we make complex information quickly accessible to every type of user? To find out, we prepared large volumes of sensor data for different user perspectives – textually, numerically and visually. The neat, well-structured screen design of the Smart Rail Maintenance App for tablets, laptops, desktop and touchscreen workstations is heavy on graphic elements, with very little text involved. With just a few taps, the app’s intuitive user interface allows Vossloh and its customers to plan their maintenance schedules well in advance and according to their own preferences.
Using a “minimum viable product” based on sensor and location data for rail maintenance software we were able to successfully put our UX and UI design to the test.
